{a place for everything}

I have a thing for paint samples. I LOVE them. I could browse that section for hours, and I do! When I find a new favorite, I tuck it in my purse and bring it home with me to add to my collection.

There is always something being refinished, repainted, or redone around our house, so looking through and deciding on a paint color is par for the course. I love having a whole stack of my favorites on hand...then it's just trying to decide which one to use!

When we built our house almost three years ago (that went so fast!), I needed a way to conveniently carry around all my paint and fabric samples. So, I punched holes in the corners of the samples, and added them to a silver 1-inch book ring. It was the perfect solution--it kept them organized, all together, and easily fit in my purse, or house-building binder.

I still carry them around, because I love being able to pull them out and hold them up to a pillow, rug, curtain panel, or any other potential item for my home. I know right away if the shades and tones are a match, or if the fabrics will work together.

For the rest of my collection, I organize each ring by color--reds, oranges & yellows, greens, blues & purples, browns, and creams & whites. I have a cute tray that I made out of a cardboard flat (I made an extra one when I made movie night concession boxes for our family movie nights), and keep in my craft closet for easy access.

Happy Painting!

I swear I'm not posting this link for any self promotion. I just want to show you what I did with all of the paint chips that I had!

Freekily organized, but I am impressed and a little jealous that I didn't think of it first.

These are perfect to give to children to help them learn their colors. I just keep one in the church bag, my purse and the pocket in the car in front of where they sit, and the older kids can play "the color game" with the little ones anytime!

Thank you so much for stopping by Made it on Monday! I appreciate your sweet comment. The striped cardigan was actually a shirt I found at Goodwill and then cut up the middle to make it a cardigan :) I explain it in this post
I find that I don't want to spend the money on cardigans, when I can easily make them out of sweaters... as explained here
I'm LOVING the cardigan look these days!

I love to pick up the lighter weight paint samples. I have them handy when I'm ready to paint, and I have to admit I do use some of them for decupodge cut outs and glue on's.
