{numbered twine balls}

Okay, so decorative balls are everywhere.

I've always loved the look of them, and wanted to put them somewhere in my house. However, I decided to make mine just a little bit different, and instead of making them smooth, with the twine directly against the styrofoam ball, I made them a little chunkier looking--with lots of overlap.

I'm really happy with how they turned out--perfect for my dining room table.

Numbered Twine Balls

ITEMS YOU NEED:
  • styrofoam balls
  • twine/jute
  • hot glue
  • black craft paint
  • foam stamps
DIRECTIONS:

This is really easy, and literally will take you less than 15 minutes. Don't you love projects like that? It's also quite inexpensive--I made all three for less than $10.

I'm so sorry I don't have more process pictures for you. I made them during nap time today catching up on my shows, and I got a little distracted, lol.

1. Make a small line of hot glue down the middle of your styrofoam ball, and place the beginning of your jute on top of it, adhering it to the ball. Let it dry for just a second, then start wrapping the twine around and around the ball. There is no rhyme or reason to this, other than you don't want to do too many wraps right next to each other, or it won't stay as tight as it should. That's the beauty of this project--each one will be a little bit different.

2. Keep on wrapping until you can no longer see the styrofoam ball underneath. If I had to do this all over again, I would have painted the ball first--probably a dark brown.

3. Cut the end of the twine, then tie it to another piece of twine going the opposite direction.

4. I added the numbers using craft paint and foam stamps.

{love} them.

.....

Have a great day!
