{where i've been, and a giveaway winner}

It's been a few days since I've posted, but for very good reason.  This weekend was like no other...

It was my first one, and if it wasn't for my shiny medal, 3 lost toenails, and aching feet, it would almost seem like a dream.  I ran it with my best girlfriend, and we MADE IT.  My husband also ran it, and my parents came out to help with the kids and give their support--we couldn't have done it without them. My best friends all were there for the race (some ran their own races too), and met us at the 19 mile mark for moral support, food, and dry socks. Brook ran with us for a little ways, which was exactly what we needed--a huge boost to my morale. Seeing them all made me cry, but also buoyed me up.  Erica and I held hands the last quarter mile, all the way to finish--we trained together, ran together, and finished together--and I couldn't have done it without her. Seeing all my friends and family at the finish line is something I will never forget.

Thank you for allowing me this personal moment--it was a huge accomplishment for me, and I'm so grateful for the experience.  When I crossed the finish line, I made everyone around me promise to not let me run another one, but now I'm not so sure...:)

My hubby and me...

nice job on the first marathon. That race truly shows you how tough you can be. I learned a lot from my first marathon.

Way to go. I'm so very impressed. My little half-marathon is just about doing me in, so I cannot imagine doing a full. (I'm losing one toenail--can't imagine losing 3)

Huge Congratulations are in order, that is seriously awesome! I am having some issue getting past the 3 lost toe nails (egads!) lol, don't even want to fathom how that happened! I just did my first 12k and was pretty proud, that's no more than a light warm up for you crazy marathoners! :) Andrea
