{one fish, two fish}

We had a very informal birthday celebration for my boys this past weekend, and it was SO fun.  A backyard campfire, roasted hot dogs, lots of yummy food, playing in the yard--it was perfect.

I really wanted to make just a couple of things to make the evening fun, and although I didn't have a lot of time to do much, it turned out just right. All of these are really simple, but I've found that it's the simple touches that make the biggest difference.

I chose the theme "1 Fish, 2 Fish", well, because there are two of them, and because they were turning two. :) The color combo was easy--red & blue of course, plus yellow, and a little green and orange.

They have to have cute shirts, right?  I used my Silhouette to cut out the fabric (seersucker and muslin), and the tees are from Walmart. (font = gentle redhead/text, wish i was taller/numbers)  Did you know that you can use the non-sew heat 'n bond? Well, you can!  I followed the same directions, and it worked like a charm!

As cute as these shirts are, they were even cuter on.  They really did like them.  Really.

Table Toppers

I wanted to have a few treats to munch on, and red swedish fish (of course) and blue wrapped tootsie rolls (the only blue candy I could find) were perfect in mason jars. I used my Epic Letterpress to cut out scalloped tags, then distressed the edges and used stamps for the text.  (Yes, I know that the H is sideways on one of them, and it still makes me crazy.  I didn't have time to re-do it, so I'm thinking it's just charming, right?) I used baker's twine to tie it to the top of the jar...voila!  Simple and adorable.

Okay, so this is my very favorite part. When I saw THESE cupcakes by The Creation Corner, I was hooked.  Pun intended.  :) I absolutely {LOVE} them!  They were easy to make, but did take some time to assemble.  Luckily I had some cute helpers that sorted all the M&M's!  I used buttercream frosting, M&M's from the bulk candy aisle (although I did run out and just bought a bag), and fruit slices (and no, they do not make blue fruit slices--I looked)  for the tail.  I used a toothpick to stick the fruit slice to the back side of the cupcake.  Just be sure to warn your guests!

For the birthday boys...

 everyone else...

Aren't they darling?  They would be so fun for any classroom...I'm also thinking Dr. Suess Day!

Happy Birthday sweet boys!

So cute!!! We are doing Thing 1 and Thing 2 for our littles in a month! I love their shirts! I used the same ones in red for our kids' shirts! 1 Fish, 2 Fish is an awesome new take on Dr. Seuss for two birthday kids!

Kierste-leave it to you to come up with something so darling for twin birthdays. And that photo of them crying-it reminds of the song-I's my party I can cry if I want to. Perfect song for a toddler party actually! They are so darling!
