{on a personal note}

You may have noticed that I haven't been around as much this summer, and posting fresh ideas less frequently than normal.  I've never explained the frequency of my posts before, because with a lot of young children at home, I've always posted when I was able to, and that's just how it needed to be.  However, after being asked about it (very nicely, I might add), I felt that I wanted to put some minds at ease. :) I consider all of you my friends, and I love and appreciate all the support I've received from you, and I felt like an explanation in this circumstance was warranted.

This summer has been an incredibly busy and emotional summer for our family, as we moved cross country to a new home, in a new state.  Many of you have probably done the same thing, and know how stressful and crazy it can be.  Once we arrived, I realized that due to the different school schedules of the two states, my kids got out late in the summer, and would be starting much earlier than they would have.  My family has always come first, and always will, but suddenly it hit me even more strongly that I needed to enjoy my time with them as much as possible, because I wouldn't have them for very long. So, instead of spending afternoons crafting or building, I'm playing games, going swimming, baking treats, going for bike rides, and watching movies--and loving every minute of it.

You may even see less posts over the next two weeks, but...

When school starts on August 27th, I will be back in full force!  I am in the process of switching over from Blogger to WordPress, so there may be a few kinks over the next week or two while that is being done.  It's an exciting change, and I'm looking forward to it.  September will also bring back the popular Back 2 Basics series, featuring favorite bloggers' back to school projects. I've also got a long list of projects to share, and I can't wait for my favorite time of year...the fall, and then the holiday season.

Thank you for your patience and understanding...I appreciate each one of you!

As a mom of six, mostly grown, I now can say with certainty it is a true fact that babies don't keep. It only makes me admire bloggers more when they take the steps needed to spend their time where it really is of most value - with their kids.

I'm very proud of you for choosing your family over a blog. You will never, ever look back with regret if you do that. It makes me sad that you even have to post a post like this. Keep up the GOOD work! Barb

Kierste -- no need to explain! When you said you were moving cross country, I didn't expect to hear from you at all. As a teacher/mom/grandparent, I appreciate the choice you are making and look forward to hearing from you when you are ready. Enjoy

Blessing to you and your family. Oh my they are just so cute (I am drawn to redheads by kids have red hair so far none of the grandkiddos do. It does go by fast and being a grandmother of 7 and helping out with the care of them I too understand the need to put the blessing you have in your family first. Family first,if everyone would do this what a wonderful childhood all children would be blessed with. My husband and myself put our family first and that means being there at least 3 days some weeks more to care for the grandkiddos when thier parents are at work, or have biblestudy, we love every minute some days maybe not at the time win you have removed a 17 month for the 10th time off a table or our of his older sisters grocery cart, or when the tween and teen are not being loving sisters to each other,but at the end of the day you laugh and share the stunts they have done that day. We also take themon vacation with us every year and this year we did a Cali coast trip southern Cali to San Fransisco, they loved all the stops along the beach and the marine life. So when in doubt know your choice is the correnct one.

Keep your eye on those priorities. You will never regret, there is no do over being a mom. Having moved from Michigan to Texas 18 years ago, I still miss fall. You will find it very different here. Not necessarily bad, just different. No apple orchards, cool football game evenings and you can go swimming after visiting the pumpkin patch. Welcome to Texas!

Glad you're enjoying time with your family. That really is the priority. Moving is stressful enough. Have fun with those kiddos! I'm waiting on fall, too. :)
